As part of FIGO Cape Town 2025, we are offering an exclusive selection of pre-Congress workshops and hands-on simulation labs, designed to enhance your skills and knowledge.Â
Please note: Spaces are limited and reserved on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is strongly recommended.
Pre-Congress workshops
Engage in focused, interactive seminars offering a deep dive into specialised topics. Some workshops even include a hands-on experience to maximise learning.
- When? Saturday 4 October 2025
- Where? Workshops take place both on-site at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and at off-site venues such as local hospitals, universities, and simulation centres. FIGO will provide return transport from the convention centre to off-site locations.
Highlights include:
- Teach the breech – hosted by the World Association of Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynecology (WATOG) and the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG)
- Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) – hosted by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG)
- Safe abortion in all trimesters – hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), Ipas, DKT WomanCare and the FIGO Committee on Safe Abortion
- Global surgery hackathon – hosted by the University of Cape Town (UCT)
Hands-on simulation labs
Step into the world of immersive learning with cutting-edge simulation labs. These hands-on experiences allow you to practice gynaecologic surgical procedures and react to real-life obstetric scenarios in a high-tech, simulated environment.
- When? Sunday 5 – Thursday 9 October 2025
- Where? On-site at the Cape Town International Convention Centre
Highlights include:
- Gynaecological ultrasound: hands-on with 3D ultrasound volumes – hosted by the South African Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SASUOG)
- Sonographic findings in endometriosis – hosted by the FIGO Committee on Minimal Access Surgery
- Hands on IVF clinic workshop – hosted by the FIGO Committee on Reproductive Medicine, Endocrinology and Infertility

The majority of sessions will be conducted in English, with some offered in French and Spanish. Additionally, some sessions will have AI generated captioned translations between English, French and/or Spanish.
