The World Congress will take place between Sunday 5 October – Thursday 9 October 2025, with pre-Congress workshops taking place on Saturday 4 October 2025. Visit ‘Week at a glance’ for an overview of the programme schedule. 

The World Congress will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), which is approximately 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. Visit ‘Venue and travel’ for more information about organising your trip to the Congress. 

The World Congress will bring together more than 8,000 health professionals, including representatives of FIGO’s 130+ member societies, obstetrician gynaecologists, midwives, nurses, advocates, decisions makers, trainees and other specialities in the field of women’s health and policy.

Yes, the FIGO 2025 World Congress will be taking place purely in-person with no hybrid elements. The programme will follow the local time zone of South Africa Standard Time (UTC+02:00).

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish for all plenary sessions and a limited number of breakout sessions.

Yes, you can modify your submission via our online submissions portal. Just make sure to save your submission in ‘Final submission’ status by 23:59 UTC on Friday 1 November 2024. Visit our submissions page to find out more and download the full submission guidelines.

There is no limit on how many proposals one person can submit. However please note that for abstracts, each presenting author is limited to a maximum of one abstract in the final Congress programme and supplementing IJGO publication. As the FIGO World Congress is a global event, the Scientific Programme Committee may limit organisations to a maximum of one activity in the scientific programme in order to ensure a fair, balanced and diverse programme representing a variety of perspectives. Online registration will open in January 2025. To keep up to date with the latest information, please pre-register your interest. 

It is your own responsibility to check any visa requirements for entry into South Africa, and if required, apply for a visa yourself, in plenty of time to travel to and attend the World Congress. FIGO cannot take responsibility for declined visa applications or applications not processed in time.

A letter of invitation to attend the Congress can be secured during the registration process for the Congress. Letters of invitation will only be issued upon receipt of a completed registration form and full payment of registration fees. Please note that a letter of invitation should not be considered as an official invitation covering fees and other expenses.
